Jubensha FAQ

What is Jubensha?

Jubensha is a fast growing immersive murder mystery gaming trend. It's like playing a real life Crime Scene Zero!

In Jubensha, players take on character roles to unravel mysteries—sometimes murder, but also horror, sci-fi, fantasy, or even romantic dramas! Each game is an immersive experience where secrets, trust, and detective work collide.

How Do You Play Jubensha?

  1. Assemble Your Team · Games typically require six players, though that can vary. If you don't have a team, you can always play pick up games by joining our free Jubensha Enthusiast Group.
  2. Get Your Script · Each player receives a detailed backstory, objectives, and juicy secrets. You'll spend the first part of the game digging deep into your character's rich backstory.
  3. Dive In · The game unfolds in stages where you role-play, investigate evidence, interrogate others, and try to piece together the truth.
  4. Face the Big Reveal · At the end, everyone votes on the culprit. If you guess correctly, the murderer is caught. If not, the murderer escapes into the night, and the real drama was everything that unfolded along the way.

What Makes Jubensha Different from Murder Mystery Parties, LARPs, or TTRPGs?

Unlike Western murder mysteries or roleplaying games that give you a brief character sheet, Jubensha scripts are deep. The design encourages complex narratives, multiple layers of secrets, and objectives that evolve as the game progresses.

Plus, the gameplay isn’t confined to just solving a crime. You might discover your character has a tragic backstory or must grapple with an unexpected moral dilemma. It’s part deduction, part drama, and totally captivating.

The "rules" or "mechanics" for each Jubensha scenario are self-contained in the game. No complex stats, dice, or combat. You'll mostly be revealing clue cards, opening secret envelopes, or examining intricate props, and of course, interacting with your fellow players!

Where Can I Play Jubensha?

Jubensha games are currently hosted at, 357 McCaslin Blvd, Louisville, Colorado. This is a temporary home while we build out our new expansion space, and Jubensha will have two dedicated spaces once it opens later this year.

Where can I Play Jubensha in English?

All of the Jubensha games we host are in English.

Do I Have to Wear a Costume?

That's completely up to you! Some players really enjoy getting dressed up. Others less so. The important thing is that you feel comfortable and ready to play!

When you book your game, you'll receive an email with costuming tips, in case that's your thing.

What If I Want to Play But Live Outside Colorado?

If you're traveling from outside of Colorado to try Jubensha, we'd love to help! Reach out to concierge@rabbithole.rs and our team can give you tips on travel, lodging, and awesome things to do in the area. Our location in Louisville, Colorado is minutes from the mountains, and the Denver area has a vibrant immersive entertainment scene.

To explore more of the great immersive scene in Colorado, we highly recommend Immersive Denver, a community arts organization that provides a calendar and map of great events to try.

How Did Jubensha Get Started?

It all started with a French board game, Death Wears White, which introduced a detailed murder mystery format. Years later, China’s hit reality TV show Who's The Murderer? adapted the board game’s premise, sparking a nationwide craze.

Fast-forward to today: Jubensha has grown into a massive industry. There are over 45,000 studios across China, offering elaborate settings, costumes, and immersive experiences. There are Jubensha cruises, hotels, and even villages!

Why Is Jubensha So Popular?

Jubensha combines the thrill of mystery-solving with the intimacy of role-play, making it a perfect way to bond with friends, or even meet new ones! Since the game requires you to interact, build trust, and scheme, it’s an instant icebreaker!

Why Should I Try Jubensha?

Jubensha isn’t just a game, it’s an adventure. Whether you’re interrogating a friend or hiding your character's motives from a confidant, the twists and turns will keep you hooked. It’s not just about solving the mystery; it’s about living the story.

So grab your friends, channel your inner sleuth, and prepare for hours of gripping game play. Ready to step into your first mystery? Book your game now!
